ClipMagic web Β· for Tommy and Josh

What changes from the design

The prototypes are the design and get built as drawn. These are the main places where we'd do something different, and why. Small things are left out on purpose.

πŸ”—

A link page for every business

Results, and every post's caption
In the designResults shows "42 asked for directions". Instagram and Facebook don't tell us that.
What we'd doClipMagic makes each business a small mobile page in its own style: Order, Call, Directions, Book, today's offer. Every post says "link in bio" and leads there, and we count every tap.
Results gets real numbers, the "link in bio" finally goes somewhere useful, and it costs us almost nothing. A new screen to design.
🎡

Our own music, no trending sounds

Director, and the music on every video
In the design"Trending: 18k Reels this week Β· soft morning piano".
What we'd doVideos use our own licensed music. "Trending" points to trending formats (a match cut, "things that just make sense"), never to a song.
No service can put Instagram's or TikTok's trending songs on a post for a business.
✏️

Editing right on the post

Ready to check, and the phone's "Edit the video" sheet
In the designAn edit sheet with fields for the words, photos, music and length, "updates in about a minute".
What we'd doThe preview is the real post, playing live. Tap a line to retype it, tap a photo to swap it, and it changes at once. Length is offered only on template videos, where it can change freely.
Instant edits, no waiting, and they cost nothing. The video file is only made when the post goes out.

Other sizes only when needed

Ready to check: the Instagram, Facebook and Google tabs
In the designEvery size is ready for every network the moment the post is.
What we'd doThe tall version comes first. The feed and Google versions are made from it, same words and style, only when the post goes there or when the owner taps "Show me the Google version".
A post that gets skipped never costs more than one version.

American first

Everywhere
In the designA London bakery, prices in pounds, British spelling ("colours", "neighbours").
What we'd doAn American sample business, dollars, American English. The posts themselves follow each customer's own country and language.
We launch in the US first.

No window frame on the web

The desktop layout
In the designThe app sits inside a Mac window with the three colored dots.
What we'd doIt fills the browser tab. Same sidebar and canvas, no fake window.
It runs in a browser, so the browser is already the window.
✨

New screens, in the same style

Not in the prototypes yet
In the designIt starts once the business is already set up.
What we'd doDesigned, in the prototypes' own style: signing up, the first run (from a website, an Instagram or a Google listing), plans and billing, connecting accounts, editing on the post, when something goes wrong, empty screens, the link page, the emails, our back office. All in the new screens.
A real customer needs them before the first post. One small label change there: the "Not quite right?" panel is called "Make it yours" while it's open.
